Carol Ladewig is a painter working non-figuratively in oil and acrylic paint. Painting surfaces range from paper, wood, or canvas. Her sources of inspiration are drawn from everyday events, memories, and reading. Her work focuses on visualizing perceptions and structures of time and memory.

Ladewig received her MFA in Painting and Drawing from California College of the Arts and Crafts, where she was awarded a Barclay Simpson Graduate Award and Exhibition and was nominated for a SECA Award.

In 2001, Ladewig co-founded the Oakland Art Gallery, a non-profit art space. As Co-Founder and Curator, she developed the gallery’s programming, curated exhibitions, and designed the installation of each exhibition through 2007.

Ladewig was an instructor in the Art Department at Diablo Valley College, 2001-2017. Since 2009, she has been a board member of the Kala Art Institute. She served as Chair of the UC Art Alumni Group Symposium Committee 2008-2016. She recently retired as Director/Curator of the Los Medanos College Art Gallery.

Ladewig has exhibited locally and nationally. Her paintings are held in public and private collections in the US and Europe. 

Ladewig is originally from Southern California. She lives and works in Oakland.
